Your emergency dentist in DuPont is ready to see you. If you or a loved one is in pain or if the health of a tooth is threatened, please call your emergency dentist in DuPont. The staff at Dupont Family Dentistry has been providing emergency dental care for more than 10 years, and we offer immediate care when necessary. In the meantime, read on to find out what you should do in various dental emergency situations.

Toothache

A common dental emergency is a toothache. Whether the pain is mild or severe, you need relief. In some cases, your discomfort may be due to a particle of food that is trapped between two teeth or just below the gum line. Try flossing to remove it. On the other hand, if the pain is severe, then you may have an infected tooth. This can happen when bacteria reach the nerve. In this case, root canal therapy may be necessary to remove infection and preserve the tooth.

Avulsed (Knocked Out) Tooth

Probably the most obvious dental emergency in DuPont is a knocked out tooth. However, what is not so obvious at first glance is that we may be able to save your natural smile. If you still have the tooth and can get to our office quickly, the dentist may be able place the tooth back into its socket. It is so important to know how to care for the tooth until you arrive at our office. Please perform the following actions:

  • Gently rinse the tooth in water. Do not wash or scrub the tooth clean.
  • Touch only the crown of the tooth and not the attached root or tissues.
  • Store the tooth in a sealed container filled with milk or a mild salt solution. Get to our office within 30 minutes.

Lost Filling or Crown

We will want to see you as soon as possible. In the meantime, you can try to keep the restoration in place by dabbing a small amount of petroleum jelly, denture adhesive or temporary dental cement on the tooth.
